Our Society began in 2005 after some Art Classes in the village led by Jill Chaldecott in 2004, and our first annual exhibition was held in Burton Memorial Hall in June 2005.
The Art Group meet most Friday mornings in the hall and the Craft Group meet every second Monday afternoon.
Our Treasurer, Paula, has been with us since day one. As a Founder Member we are indebted to her. Our other Founder Member, Kath, retired at the end of 2025 after being our Chairwoman from 2014 to 2025. She is enjoying her well-earned rest and is now our Honorary President.
Our new Chairperson and Programme Co-Ordinator is Rosie. Our Secretary and Librarian, Cecilia, keeps us well-informed and looks after the extensive collection of books available for members to enjoy. We are ably assisted by our Committee Members who work tirelessly in the background to help make things happen (John, Pam, Evelyn, Marie, Alison, Jane, Hazel and Jenni).
Over the years we have been proud to exhibit our work and that of other local artists at our annual Art and Craft Exhibition held in Burton Memorial Hall. This two-day event provides an opportunity to exhibit and sell our art and crafts. We also have a featured Guest Artist each year. Many thanks to our recent guests: Jayne Lancaster, Cally Lawson, Janice McGloine and Shane Sidlow.
