Today we were looking forward to Spring type activities - garden fetes, marquees, camping and anything in between. I decided in my own weird way to celebrate rain… and puddles... a few of which we have seen over the last few weeks! Basically a child having fun splashing in puddles with wellies on was my ‘activity’. Still work in progress this week and not ready for the end of session Gallery yet - maybe next week. We had Ice Skaters, Camping and Village Scenes this week, along with some micro beasts from last week.
Until next time, let your heart inspire your art.

Today our theme was Sunset Over the Sea. I had a go with this and I have to say I was quite pleased with my attempt. My boat pier does need some work (basically covering over with white gouache and starting again…..) but I might have a go as the sunset bit is worth holding onto. I also brought my cottage back from last week, as it was now completed.
The random discussion today was about Masking Fluid. Who knew that this wonderful medium existed…… so, you can use this to cover an area you don’t want to paint over and then peel it off later. Your image or area will be absolutely free of paint for you to develop as you wish. Obviously, I came home and ordered some from a well known on-line supplier immediately!
We were treated to Jane’s homemade jam buns with our cuppa this morning…. Yummy.

Today 6 of us started a Latch Hook Kit, which hopefully makes a Dragon Fly cushion! We were laying bets as to who would complete it first, and how many different versions of the same project we would create. Our first challenge was to master the use of the Latch Hook! Apparently by the time we complete our individual projects we will each have hooked approx 4,500 pieces of wool. I think we will be lucky to complete these in time for Christmas, only time will tell. We will ‘show and tell’ at the next Welcome to the Village event.
One member also ‘blew the dust off’ a patchwork project she started 24 years ago. We all have projects gathering dust in baskets, under the bed, cupboards and drawers. Let's get them out and finish them! Bye for now.

It was good to catch up with all our crafters. Just when you thought it was safe to pack away Christmas … one or two of our members were planning their Christmas projects for this year and were underway!
The most ‘left field’ idea was making miniature furniture from the wire caps found on champagne and prosecco bottles - a true recycling project. We also dived into the club’s vast jewellery making resources and had a go at learning a new craft.
Happy Crafting everyone till next time.

Our first day back after the Christmas and New Year break. It felt good to be able to take some time out again and enjoy our ‘me’ time.
The theme this week was Snowdrops/Flowers. Definitely a bit of a challenge for me… I never know when to stop messing around with my work. I definitely needed a darker background in order to make the white snowdrops stand out more. You don't have to follow the theme but it's helpful to give us ideas. Sometimes I chicken out and ‘go rogue’, if I think it's too hard a subject.
What’s great about our Art Group is that members are at different stages of their artistic journey. I'm a beginner really and everyone is very helpful and no question is silly… today I asked what was the difference between a putty eraser and the normal pencil one. I saw a putty eraser on an art website and thought I should have one, so I bought one, no idea why, I just needed one.
Some new members joined us this week as well. It's great to see how enthusiastic, friendly and supportive everyone is.
